Cane Sugar Day was launched as an initiative by the town council to include Frigiliana amongst the wide range of food festivals held in the province, with the added attraction that it features an exclusive and unique ingredient.
The festival, which does not have a fixed date on the calendar, is usually held at the end of April, and, as one might expect, features the cane honey as the undisputed star.
The activities are centred on the Plaza del Ingenio, where there is a continuous programme of performances and cultural events, and where various craft stalls are set up. In addition, visitors can enjoy free tastings and culinary events featuring a variety of Restaurants in the municipality are creating special menus featuring cane honey as the main ingredient.
